Northernhey Gardens
These gardens are in the city centre, adjacent to the Castle, and at this time of year a fine show of flowers fill the many beds.
A wide variety of trees and shrubs, many of which I didn't recognise, can be found throughout the gardens.
This sculpture, called The Deer Stalker, is by E E Stephens and was given to the city in 1878. It stands at the entrance to the Park.
As with so many local authority flower beds the quality is very high.
This monument to Stafford Henry Northcote, Earl of Iddesleigh (1818-1887) stands in the middle of the park.
The War Memorial.
This portal leads to more flower beds, the moat and more interesting trees and shrubs.
